Amazing Pamphlets On Star Wars Art Gallery

I’m an art teacher and use this video every year for my perspective unit. It’s a must have video for all art teachers. I’m waiting for the dvd version to be produced.

Is this a good research paper?
In the past the supreme court has found it difficult to nail down a true definition for freedom of expression. The constitution states that “Congress shall make no law… abridging freedom of speech, or of the press (Constituion,Ammend.1).” Constitutional rights should only be restricted when a clear and present danger is posed on society (ACLU, par. 20). The government should not limit expression simply because any viewers or even the majority of viewers finds offense. The first ammendment is based upon the belief that in a free and democratic society, individual adults must be free to decide what to read, write, paint, draw, see, and hear(par.23). The question that must be asked however is where the line must be drawn between art and obscenity. A pro censorship member of congress once attacked the following shows for Star Wars Art Gallery being to violent: The Miracle Worker, Civil War Journal, Star Trek 9, The Untouchables, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. What would be left if all of these programs were purged from the airwaves, or if all the artwork was removed from the galleries? If we let the government decide what good violence and bad violence is, we not only lose our freedoms but our sense of power and responsibility. Kilgore College drama department decided to put on a controversial performance of “Angels In America.” Opening night consisted of thousands of protesters gathered around the outskirts of campus. Security teams had checked and rechecked every square inch of the the theatre for suspicious activity. The cast members remained in a locked basement room for safety. Over 100 seats were still left unfilled after being purchased by one local buissnessman trying to prevent the community from viewing the play (Greenwood, par. 4). Precautions were wholly unnecessary though. The production was a screaming success and protesters went home with there tail between there legs. Not everyone let it go however . One week into the wildly successful production The state government made a surprising announcement that 50,000 dollars worth of state funding was going to be pulled from the college art department. The students were clearly not causing any harm in the making of the play, but the government felt the need to stifle any further “creativity” (Greenwood, par. 6). Censoring art, even art that has been dubbed indecent, isn’t decent; its thuggish, its unconstitutional, undemocratic, and deeply unwise (Kushner, par. 2). let me know if this is clear concise anda good argumentits just one supporting argument not the whole paper
