Free Correlative Resources On Star Wars Paintings

Okay, I know there’s currently a lot of heated discussion over this comic book series. There are those of us in the wonderful world of Star Wars who think this collection was the biggest waste of time and money in the history of the Star Wars universe. And on the flip side, there are those of us who think that this story is a gem that should not be overlooked. Sorry all, I happen to agree with the latter group. Dark Empire is, in my opinion, a great novel. Does it have its flaws? Yes. But for all you cynics and naysayers out there, just let me ask you this: can you name a series that is absolutely, positively, one-hundred percent perfect? I rest my case. And now back to the book. Dark Empire is a continuation of the Star Wars saga, taking place six years after the Battle of Endor, where Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine met their deaths. Or did they? As the story continues, we discover that Palpatine is, in fact, not dead as we had all thought, but has been reborn

I don’t know what the reviewer “Gordon Larko” is smoking. For some reason, he feels compelled to leave the EXACT SAME horrible review and 1 STAR rating for all GAY-THEMED movies. Probably a “personal problem” of his. Hopefully this review will help correct this imbalance. I can’t believe AMAZON is allowing this GAY BASHER to use their website as a venue to spread his hate.
By the way, This is an absolutely WONDERFUL movie!

“Pollock” is an underrated masterpiece by actor/director Ed Harris. It is a mesmerizing portrayal of the 20th century’s most polarizing artists. Whether you enjoy or dislike Pollock’s paintings, this movie is quite moving. Ed Harris studied the character of Pollock deeply–the rough Wyoming artist who hit it big in New York City. He shows Pollock in all his aspects–from an admirable artist to a violent alcoholic to an overweight womanizer. Marcia Gay Harden is equally great as Pollock’s pained wife, Lee Krasner.

“Pollock” is not only historically accurate, but authentic when dealing with the characters’ emotional struggles. Pollock is not without his faults–alcoholism among them. Harris’ real-life wife, Amy Madigan, stars as socialite Peggy Guggenheim, and Val Kilmer stars as Willem De Kooning. Jennifer Connelly appears later as Pollock’s much younger mistress, who supplants Krasner in Pollock’s passions.

“Pollock” is an artful work, painting on the big screen!

An excellently made film about a disgusting man who some would say is a gifted artist. Sorry, but his life exemplifies a drunkard with psychotic tendencies. The final straw is when he kills one young girl and severly injures another while taking his own life in a drunken accident. If you want two hours of drunken hypocrisy, Pollock is your bag. Jackson Pollock was not a likable person. He was an alcoholic, an adulterer, an egotist and simply a plain jerk. He also was a pioneer in the field of modern art, so he became famous and hence, even had this movie about his life. I found it very interesting.

Ed Harris was a good choice for the role. Harris, who looks like Pollock, did a fine job of portraying this “tormented” soul, a word critics love to use for famous artists (see Van Gogh).

****possible spoiler**** This movie actually inspired me to become an artist and I did a handful of Pollock imitations, several of which actually sold for a decent price. I love Pollock’s work, and I enjoy character studies of people on film, but this gets a little sordid as the film goes on with a definitely-unhappy ending.

Hat’s off to Marcia Gay Harden for her performance as Pollock’s wife. She has the New York City accent down pat. She is shown worshiping her husband and it’s painful to see her get hurt.

The story is a bit soap operish but if you enjoy art, and especially Pollock’s work, you’ll find this story fascinating.

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R9KNH7QB5301Z This art book is noticeably better that the already good The Art of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.

This time round, even more details are added to the concept art. Most of the sketches are now coloured. As usual, the pages are filled to the brim with character designs, environment paintings, storyboards, sculptures and ships. All drawings are captioned by the individual artists on the idea they are trying to bring across.

In some ways, the character designs and sketches look better on book than in the movie. The environment paintings are just epic.

Included also, at the back of the book, is the full script for the movie.

This book is highly recommended to sci-fi artists, concept artists and of course Star Wars fans.

(More pictures are available on my blog. Just visit my Amazon profile for the link.)

The first time I really started Really liking Star Wars was with The Phantom Menace. Personally, I don’t go in for the dissecting crtisicm kind of thing. So Yea, there may be a some flaws, but to me there was more right than wrongs.
So about this book; I am crazily into art, and my copy of this one
is starting to look worn out. It is an amazing collection of conceptual art (drawings, paintings, digital designs, ect.) arranged chronologicaly paralleling the script. I believe that when
I started studying the works of Iian McCaig, Dermot Power, and others; my ideas and artwork really took off, and seeing the quality and height of what I wanted to reach laid out inspired me
greatly. Well, in all, this book is brilliantly executed and would be awesome to look at for any Star Wars fan or art fanactic.

Sometimes is easy to forget the amout of design works that takes to make a star wars movie, with lots of designers hired trying to get the ship, landscape or character design that fits into the visuals and story of the movie.
This book gathers lots of artwork, focused on the Star Wars Attack of the Clones movie and will satisfy both old and new star wars fans for sure.

He wears all black Just like Darth Vader and serves the emperor. This is for those who wondered what would happen if Luke fell to the darkside and fallowed his fathers path.

Still was before prequel era so Luke was a Dark Jedi but not knighted as a Sith Lord. This is something they should fix if they wanted to rewrite this book.

The art is hard t get used to and the writing is very fan fic ish. But this back in the day was for those who wanted a sequel to return of the jedi and little things like EU consistency or accuracy to George Lucas prequel vision were not in the picture.

Dark Empire is one of the first Star Wars stories outside of the movies. It came out after the first non-Lucas Star Wars book, but before the sequels (the first book was part of a trilogy called “Thrawn Trilogy” written by Timothy Zahn). Dark Empire was a big hit and it had positive reviews. However, I didn’t like it. I think the most important aspect of Luke Skywalker is that he rejected the dark side of the Force. To have a book where that part of the character is taken away just doesn’t make sense. However, even if we allow that nonsense, the book is full of completely illogical sequences, such as the Emperor (who is alive because of cloning) making Skywalker a commander. It seems like someone as bright as the Emperor, wouldn’t do something so foolish, specially without making Skywalker do some kind of test. He should have also put limits to the power he gave Skywalker over his forces. I understand that Emperor Palpatine is a very arrogant person, so arrogant that it led to his downfall in the movies, but to also have to accept that he is stupid is too much for me.

I also had some problems with the artwork. The characters are not close to how they looked in the movie, and while I understand that in comics one has to give the artist a chance to bring his style into the mix, I had an issue with how different Leia would look between panels.

One thing I would rescue out of the comic is the interesting information regarding the other Jedi who have tried to learn about the dark side. It made me want to learn more. I liked those bits with the Jedi cube.

Overall, I would recommend avoiding this comic book. There are a lot of better Star Wars stories to read (such as the Thrawn Trilogy).

Dark Empire is considered to be either the best or the worst by people (the best by me). The sure thing is, it is arguably the greatest, most influential, most famous and most must-have SW graphic novel/ comic book.
The one that brought SW its lost glory. This is for comics what Thrawn Trilogy is for novels. It has its own, dark, magical artwork, its one-of-a-kind concept (the Emperor reborn) and the best part about it is the very fact that this book does not try to prevail over the SW that Lucas made. In every SW comic book you will see author always trying to be smarter, writing complicated dialogue, weird storyline etc. For example, TTT is considered to be a great EU work, but to me, it looks like it’s rather like a Detective Thriller as far as complication is conserned-half of the time you don’t know whats going on, and all that because the author is showing of. Not in Dark Empire-the bestselling and most Star Warsy comic book of all!
